Wes Anderson & North Korea

For those of you who know Wes Anderson’s movies, also know that every frame is like a beautiful symmetrical photograph. The interior in most of his movies has a retro vibe, and his style is on point (if you ask me).

When I came across these photos the other day, I first thought it was from a set of one of his movies, but I was wrong. They are of from several different rooms in North Korea.
Sadly, some of these rooms does no longer exist, due to North Korea’s long going campaign to present an image of modernity.

If you want to read more about North Korean interior and architecture, check out this article from The Guardian.

The photos are by Oliver Wainwright.
